Welcoming a baby is one of life’s most significant milestones, and preparing for it should include clear, honest information about what your delivery will cost. At Trinity Women’s Specialists, we believe in fee transparency. This guide explains what happens during labour and delivery, how a personalised birth plan supports your birth experience, and what you can expect to pay, with reference to the Ministry of Health (MOH) fee benchmarks and the MediSave Maternity Package.

Understanding Labour and Delivery
Labour progresses through three stages: the first runs from established labour until the cervix reaches full dilation at 10 centimetres; the second, from full dilation to the moment your baby arrives; and the third concludes once the placenta has been delivered.
Although every labour follows this broad sequence, no two births are the same. Throughout labour, Dr Yeo and the delivery team monitor you and your baby closely to keep both of you safe. This includes:
Your Personalised Birth Plan
A birth plan sets out, in writing, your preferences for labour and delivery. Prepared together with Dr Yeo during your antenatal visits, it typically covers pain relief options such as epidural anaesthesia, preferences on episiotomy, immediate skin to skin contact, breastfeeding support and cord clamping, as well as contingency plans should an assisted delivery or caesarean section become necessary.
Having a birth plan helps you stay focused and calm, especially if events move quickly. It is equally important to keep some flexibility, because keeping you and your baby safe takes priority over any written plan. If your plan needs to change, Dr Yeo will walk you through the medical reasons behind every recommendation.

Our delivery fees are set with reference to these benchmarks, and a personalised written estimate is provided during financial counselling before your delivery.

What Your Total Hospital Bill May Look Like
Your obstetrician’s professional fee is only one part of the overall cost. The hospital bills separately for the delivery suite, ward charges, nursing, consumables and medication, and your baby’s nursery and paediatrician charges are billed separately again. Median total inpatient bills, inclusive of GST, based on MOH published bill data as at 7 July 2026. Half of patients pay less than the figures shown. The average stay is about two days for a vaginal delivery and about three days for a caesarean section. Actual bills vary with ward class, length of stay and the care you and your baby need.
Using MediSave: The MediSave Maternity Package
Under the MediSave Maternity Package (MMP), you and your spouse can draw on MediSave savings to offset both pre-delivery and delivery expenses, at public and private hospitals alike. The current withdrawal limits are:

Insurance and Other Ways to Manage Costs
Standard Integrated Shield Plans generally do not cover routine delivery, although many cover specified pregnancy and delivery complications. If you hold a maternity insurance plan or have corporate healthcare benefits, bring your policy details to your financial counselling session and we will help you understand what may be claimable. Our clinic team will also prepare the itemised documentation your insurer requires.
Frequently Asked Questions
When will I receive a detailed cost estimate?
A written financial counselling summary is provided during your antenatal care, typically in the third trimester. It covers professional fees, estimated hospital charges and the MediSave limits that apply to you. You are welcome to ask for an estimate earlier at any visit.
How much does an epidural cost in Singapore?
The MOH benchmark for the anaesthetist’s fee for an epidural during a normal vaginal delivery is $817.50 to $1,090 including GST. This is billed by the anaesthetist and is separate from the hospital’s own charges.
What happens to my fees if I need an emergency caesarean?
If your delivery plan changes for medical reasons, your fees will follow the caesarean fee structure and the applicable MediSave withdrawal limits will be adjusted accordingly. Dr Yeo will explain what is happening and why at every step, and our clinic team will update your financial counselling records.
Can I use my husband's MediSave?
Yes. Both your own and your spouse’s MediSave savings can be used under the MediSave Maternity Package, covering pre-delivery care as well as the delivery itself.
Are your fees within the MOH fee benchmarks?
Our professional fees for routine deliveries are set with reference to the prevailing MOH fee benchmarks. Where a case is more complex, we will explain and document any difference during financial counselling, before your delivery.
